The Cyprus Review invites submissions for a Special Section marking the centenary of the Communist Party of Cyprus in 2026. We seek original, English-language scholarship that reassesses the party’s formation and legacy within Cypriot, regional and global frames. We particularly welcome contributions that connect political history to law, institutions, social movements, political economy, and culture, and that engage comparative or transnational perspectives.
Possible topics (indicative):
- The colonial setting, labor mobilization, and early organizational networks
- Ideology, policy agendas, and party-state relations
- Legal and constitutional dimensions, security legislation, and the courts
- Anti-colonial struggles, illegality, intercommunal relations
- Organization and intra-party processes, youth and trade union structures, relations with mass organizations
- Class, gender, culture, memory, and heritage
- Archives, sources, methods, and historiography
- The party press and its political communication, cultural production and public history
- The party’s human geography, leading figures, biographical and oral histories
